The oriental majesty of the main grape variety in this cuvée — Syrah — inspired the semiotic creation “Orience.” Spices abound here, mingling with violet, black fruit, and roasted coffee. The texture forms a labyrinth of savory sensations that playfully explore every corner of the palate.
There is both strength and vigor in this great wine. The terroir and the grape variety constantly clash and intertwine, yet neither ever dominates the other.
This power reveals itself through an undeniable sensory aesthetic.
The Orience cuvée represents the top tier of Coupe-Roses wines. It can continue to refine itself for many years in an appropriate cellar.
It pairs beautifully with oriental tagines, grilled rib steak, or traditional slow-cooked dishes from our countryside heritage.
Terroir: Mountain area of the Upper Minervois. South and southwest-facing plots, between 200 and 350 meters above sea level. Clay-magnesian slopes (Syrah) and stony limestone plateaus (Grenache).
Grape varieties: 90% Syrah, 10% Grenache.
Viticultural practices: Biodynamic and agroecological farming, natural grass cover, gentle pruning, shoot thinning, vine braiding. Treatments based on plants, fermented extracts, nettle tea, sulfur, essential oils, and just a touch of copper (total dose over five years: 4 kg).
Vinification: Manual harvest, destemming, no extraction to favor a gentle infusion. Cold vinification, then pressing midway through the alcoholic fermentation. The juices are transferred to seasoned barrels where they complete both sugar and malolactic fermentations. The final blending takes place in April, once the wines have awakened with the spring.
Aging: In barrels over the winter.
Tasting notes:
Deep black color, dense and fleshy. The nose is equally captivating, offering aromas of oriental spices and black fruits that evoke the rugged landscapes and arid climate of this magnificent region. On the palate, the wine is concentrated and lively, its freshness enhancing the aromas — perfect with grilled red meat seasoned only with coarse salt, seared just between raw and cooked.
